Types of Digital X-Rays

Periapical
A periapical X-ray is an image of a single tooth from the crown to the tooth’s root. These X-rays help us check bone and root structure abnormalities as well as diagnose periodontal disease, advanced gum disease, and abscesses.
Bitewings
Bitewing X-rays check the crown to the supporting bone of the canine, premolars and molars of the upper and lower teeth. These images help us detect decay between the teeth, changes in bone density resulting from gum disease, and the fit of a crown or a filling margin.
Panoramic
A panoramic is an extra-oral image that uses a machine to rotate around your head and take an X-ray of your entire mouth, showing the upper and lower teeth. This type of X-ray is used to detect impacted wisdom teeth, boney tumors, cysts, and other teeth or jaw problems.
Cone beam CT Scan (CBCT)
